So what are the Belly Dancers ridding?

Poof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is I the Genie from Miami,

So, can I get a sound off as to who is on this tribe and what you ride and your style of dance you perform. So Let me begin.

At the moment I have six bike, none of them are running for the short term. I’m short on time and money. I am a mechanic so I feel like am the male version of the chick from flash dance except that she studies ballet and I study middle eastern dance and Funk Fu after work. (long story)
My Horses.
80 Z1R Black my Mad Max Bike “the Gosees Bike”
83 KZ/GPZ 550 Loud fast Ugly Also Black.
83 Gs750 Blue project Bike
82 GPZ 550 Bike I was putting together for track racing.
81 KZ 550 Bike I was putting together for my buddy to ride with me.
82 CX500 My legacy from my father.
82 GS 550 Black, not my bike but my buddies, restoring it after he let me use it for some time.
62 Shovel Head in a ridge frame. GHETTO BLASTER is a Choppers Inc bike that my buddy Sam bought but I’m the only person who rides the dam thing so I take claim of the bike. This bike nearly killed me twice. Russell Simions EXILE brake locked up the rear wheel, the other when the nut to the clutch came lose and I had no clutch, this is a hand shift bike.

I find it hard to tell my biker friends that I belly dance. Most won’t get it. Heaven for bid I have to deal with the hard core biker gangs, I’d get my ass beat. Though one guy who is no longer with us would have under stood and appreciate this crazy dichotomy, Indian Larry. His years working the side show at Connie Island and all the people he has meet and hung out with. He seem to be very open and accepting of it all.

As for my style, So far it straight up Egyptian cabaret. I’m trying to learn the men’s’ folkloric dances. At some point I have women who want to teach me Tribal and Flamenco. I’m playing with Bhangra too and incorporating my Kung Fu in to my style with some old school hip hop. I have no clue what it will turn out like but the journey seems fun.

Ps I’m working on a diesel bike, 80 MPG. Fu@K the oil companies.

Genie is Out.

I'm working on getting a Ninja 500. Money is a problem right now so I don't have it yet! Hoping just one more month.

If money weren't an issue, I would have a Kawasaki Ninja 600rr. Or a new Yamaha R6 (new body style). Sexy bikes!

Poof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is I the Genie from Miami,
      Yasmin,
So your saving up for a good old 500 Kawi. Those engines are bullet proof. Just keep it well serviced and you cant go wrong. The 600's are nice, my 550's are the great grandmothers to thies bike, now they are water cooled and fule injected, but the same dam bike.
Is this going to be your first bike? If so stick to some thing used so if you drop it or have it stolen its not a major loss. I love rat bikes because no one messes with them and I can bring them back from the dead Resident Evil style.

Well be cool, Lots of love

Yep, this will be my first bike.

I know better than to get a fuel injected bike to start. The goal is to keep the shiny side up and a 500 will be a little more forgiving. A good insurance policy will take care of any major damage caused by newbie mistakes. Good times!

If I grow out of the 500, I will go for a Ninja ZX-6 or a Yamaha R6.

    hi william
souzzon here from Alaska, yes ladies I said Alaska, we have more motorcyles per capita than any other state.

Nice to see many of you luv the Kawasaki, I am the parts manager at a multi-line dealership up here, kawasaki being one of them, and a long time favorite.

Not riding myself this time, fell on the ice so one wrist in a brace, will know by the end of the week if the injury requires surgery .

We had a Kawasaki 1500 Drifter but sold it last fall so currently between bikes, have no idea what the hubby is shooting for this year, i'm currently just concentrating on healing.

For anyone who reads this and is just getting into cycling i can't stress how important it is to find your local ABATE chapter and sign up for the beginers course, you don't need a bike they provide them, you do need riding gear. In most states if you pass the ABATE class you only need to take the written test from your DMV, ABATE counts for the riding portion and it will also give you a discount on your insurance. The following year or two later, when you feel confident on your bike, take the advanced riders course (you need a bike for that one) and it will also help reduce insurance rates.

Sad to say we had our first fatality monday, young guy on an R6, going too fast for road conditions, got cut off, couldn't get out of the way, when he went down he was hit by another vehicle. The riders get anxious up here after 6 months of snow, and darkness but they forget about the gravel the city puts on the roads (no salt here).

Demo..you gotta do what you gotta do, at least your hearts in it, my partner in parts rides a monster, total carbon fiber, special tank, took 1st place at a recent show in the sport bike class

Cheers to you all, ride safe!

Wow, so I can imagine that riding on the ice and what not makes you a much more able rider in ideal conditions. I would not ride on wet pavement. I don't have the skillset.

Sorry to hear about your loss up there. Too many young guys go out and get a bike that is not very forgiving and find themselves in over their heads all too quickly because their skillset isn't a match for the bike or conditions. It's very sad.

My dream bike would be an Augusta F4. Drool...

Poof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is I the Genie from Miami,

        Souzzon,
Sorry to hear bout your spill on you bike. Maybe you should look into a Ural. With all kinds of bad weather you have up their and road conditions that shold be the optimal bike. They eve have a 2 wheel drive modle that makes the side car act as a drive wheel. I want to get one to see how much punnishment I can put on it. They also have modifications that are diesel driven for more torque and fule efficency.

Also It seems that evey one is interested in the bigest fastest bikes. Every one seems to be a type T personality.

Were still short on photos of dancers and their bieks. All my photos need to be scanned befor I can post them and I have a lot.

        Well take care.

There's just something so sexy about a hot chick on a literbike!

I don't see myself ever needing anything more than a 600. Even on a track. A 600 is more than enough for me!

But I do dream.... Them 1000's are yummy!

I ride a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 500. My bike has a custom tag GRL BK, cool chick graphics including a huge butterfly on my windshield, targa smoked windshield, rear fender eliminator, cat eye rear blinkers. As for performance upgrades: K&N Air Filter, RN Racing chain, upgraded sprocket -prior owner installed but did not specify. I am considering upgrading to an R6 or a Honda CBR 600. This bike has been so wonderful, just getting small :).
I have been known to strap a cane to the side of my bike, or wear harem pants under bike pants...... Its no surprise my primary style of dance is Turkish!

Did I make is sound like I fell while riding????sorry , no problems there, I fell while walking to check the mail!
          thanks for your concern.
We have diehards on trykes here in the winter, not for me. Roads aren't any worse than anywhere else, I see people from all over the world, including Ewen when he and Charlie did their trip around the world, if you haven't watched the Long Way Round you should, very good.

for the last XX years a Cherry 83 SUZGS450. So clean you could eat off it. Except for the occasional bugs on the mini windscreen ;o)

....and dreaming of the Anniversary Edition hd with two tone silver/black tank & gold plated emblems.

...but my oldest love.... a lowered 883 ~ white with ghost opal flames and skulls....

V Star Custom 1100. Big, loud, heavy and curvaceous (it's everything I'm not!). She's my second bike (first was a Yamaha Virago 535 last year). Just boosted to the big girl! We're discovering our new center of gravity!

As for my dancing style it's tribal fusion (with a touch of flamenco, Hindu temple, hip hop, burlesque or whatever works!) I've got 2 troupes--one with 12 women and one man, the other with 12 teen girls.

Does anyone else out there ride with their hips? ;>

Right before I came to Baghdad, I sold a Honda Magna V45 (sucker weighed 900lbs wet)
and a sweet little Yamaha Raidion. The Magna was too cumbersome for Phoenix rush hour traffic, but the Yamaha was purrrrrfect. Light and fast, I miss it. *sniff*

When I get home I plan on something sweet, not sure what yet. Maybe a cruiser and a street sport twoesome. Hmm...more to bellydancerize!

I used to live 5 minutes from the Harley Davidson final assembly plant in York...it was awesome seeing the bikes come and go.

My husband has an 1100 Yamaha Star custom from West Coast Choppers....off-white metallic, chrome with etched flames in the chrome all over it, blue running lights and ground effects, saddle bags, custom leather, blah blah blah. I let him get it b/c I have my 68 Vette as my toy.

I need something smaller and lighter, though---it's year round riding out here!

Oh Genie from Miami....... my one wish is that you get atleast one of your six bikes running, the outside of a motorcycle is good for the inside of a man.

    Hello all from Alaska.

I traded my suzuiki Intruder in last year for a bike that I have been drooling over for years. My B.O.B Honda VTX 1300, flaming red like my hair ( and my attitude for that matter). I love to ride and I love to dance. My first love is caberet, but I am spreading my wings this year to learn Tribal and Urban Tribal.

I am so happy to have found this board, so nice to see so many dancers on so many bikes.

That is cool you mentioned him. I do not know him personnally, but I watched his biography and you are right, he would have understood. In fact, he may have joined in too.

PooF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is I the Genie from Miami,

Im back!!!!!!!! And I have another bike in the fold. I just got a 90 Kawi VN750 Vulcan. Actually its over a year old. I had her at a friends house letting him ride her and he never took her out so I took her back and Im cleaning her up. NOW with the price of gas I'll be rideing her to work. So now it's 7, 1 running 3 in critical and 3 in no hope with out a lot of love. I need to get use to the cruser. I have always owned a sports bike style, before their was a sports bike class.

I'm back in another way too. I recently had a hernia operation on my belly button. It's now back as an Inny and it looks sexy again. I now have to take it easy for some time. But I and ichy to get back and dance. Just one step at a time.

See you all on the road.
    Lots of Love
