I live in the land of the motorcycle clubs b/c we have about 350 days a year of riding!! AND I finally got a bike, AND there are a lot of riding bellydance girls out here, so Jim, may I have your permission to make Belly Dance Biker Babes an official club? :) Got the connections, got the amount of people needed....then all we need to do is create chapters wherever you gals (and Jim) live and voila!

So, can I? Can I? Huh? Huh?

So what are the Belly Dancers ridding?

Poof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is I the Genie from Miami,

So, can I get a sound off as to who is on this tribe and what you ride and your style of dance you perform. So Let me begin.

At the moment I have six bike, none of them are running for the short term. I’m short on time and money. I am a mechanic so I feel like am the male version of the chick from flash dance except that she studies ballet and I study middle eastern dance and Funk Fu after work. (long story)
My Horses.
80 Z1R Black my Mad Max Bike “the Gosees Bike”
83 KZ/GPZ 550 Loud fast Ugly Also Black.
83 Gs750 Blue project Bike
82 GPZ 550 Bike I was putting together for track racing.
81 KZ 550 Bike I was putting together for my buddy to ride with me.
82 CX500 My legacy from my father.
82 GS 550 Black, not my bike but my buddies, restoring it after he let me use it for some time.
62 Shovel Head in a ridge frame. GHETTO BLASTER is a Choppers Inc bike that my buddy Sam bought but I’m the only person who rides the dam thing so I take claim of the bike. This bike nearly killed me twice. Russell Simions EXILE brake locked up the rear wheel, the other when the nut to the clutch came lose and I had no clutch, this is a hand shift bike.

I find it hard to tell my biker friends that I belly dance. Most won’t get it. Heaven for bid I have to deal with the hard core biker gangs, I’d get my ass beat. Though one guy who is no longer with us would have under stood and appreciate this crazy dichotomy, Indian Larry. His years working the side show at Connie Island and all the people he has meet and hung out with. He seem to be very open and accepting of it all.

As for my style, So far it straight up Egyptian cabaret. I’m trying to learn the men’s’ folkloric dances. At some point I have women who want to teach me Tribal and Flamenco. I’m playing with Bhangra too and incorporating my Kung Fu in to my style with some old school hip hop. I have no clue what it will turn out like but the journey seems fun.

Ps I’m working on a diesel bike, 80 MPG. Fu@K the oil companies.

Genie is Out.

for telling me about this group...
Only my second day for riding (on the "Queen seat") with my hubby...we rode ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILES around Chautauqua County.
Jeezuz! Yesterday was a leisurely roll through Presque Isle..keep teasing my hubby about not letting me keep the painted turtle we got off the road. All this in 2 days...my first time EVER riding.
Is this some kind of middle age thing? I started bellydancing last fall & my hubby just got the bike 2 weeks ago.
Hullo to all...and looking forward to participating in this group.
I live right on the Chautauqua, NY/NorthEast line. Anyone else over this way?

Me again...Newbie in both the bellydance & Motorcycle scene...
Oh, BTW, we have a pacific blue & midnight black Harley Softail Heritage FLSTC, 1584 CC. Just beautiful. I saw the color in the showroom & my mouth watered....and hubby thought if it appealed to *me* that I would be more likely to get on it. There are a couple of things I want in order to make it more comfy. I have degenerative arthritis in a number of places, including my sacrum. The American Rider magaizine had something that we'll be investing in...go to amspecialtiesusa.com & look at the Comfort Max Gel Pad. There's one with a cutout to reduce pressure right on the spot that hurts (my tailbone)....
And there's a helmet out now especially made for women. A few extra bucks than a regular one, but damn it, I'm worth it....It's a Skyline Helmet. The little plus, besides allowing a more comfortable fir on *our* heads, it's got an antistatic liner to help prevent helmet head.
I'm also going here http://www.alhannah.com/accessories.html (scroll down) for the underscarfs. I thought perhaps they would be pretty enough to even wear after you take the helmet off.

And Melissa & Lisa, FYI, July 13th at the Gravel Pit Park in NorthEast from 2-6, there's a Make A Wish Bike Show, it's $5.00. John & will be there. Drop me a line if you're coming, we'll try to meet up somewhere.
Okay, I've blabbed enough for now. Gonna make some dinner & recover from yesterday's ride.

Hi fellow biker "babes". My friend told me about this tribe, so I was excited to know that there is a tribe for belly dance biker babes. I ride a 2007 HD Softail Deluxe. I dance with Blue Caravan - an ATS troupe with Florida Tribal Dancers. Hope to get to know some of you!

And is there a way, Jim, to get them? SO sorry I couldn't make last years Laughlin event (the chili cook off) and meet you there--the bike started acting up and I was afraid we'd have issues going that far.

(although I still wonder how you carry chili on a bike). Are you doing it in 2008? If so, count me in!!!!

around 7/12 or so we are planning on flying down to salem - picking up the bikes (man i miss my bike). we will prolly spend a day in salem visitiing friends then we are off again.

the plan is to head down 101 to San Fran. we will find a storage unit for the bikes and then fly home.

Of course the belly dancer in me is fighting with the biker in me - i want to find BD stuff in San Fran or close and the other part of me just wants to ride!!!

Atleast, riding in the lower 48, I will be able to blog daily on my rides and not in one lump sum.

dropped our bikes at the honda shop yesterday - it was so sad. like dropping your kids at summer camp.

it was hard crawling in a car, i feel closed in, trapped. went and had dinner with clints parents and his aunt and uncle last night.
I havent seen his aunt marie in 20yrs. what a wonderful woman, she is so welcoming, easy to chat with. i would liek to stop by again when we come down.

salem is a hard town for me to be. I spent most of my teenage years here. I was able to spend the last 9 months of my mom's life with her here. now when i pull into town, i just miss her so much. she has been gone for 20 years and i have so much to tell her. weird even after 20 years, it makes me cry to be in this town. I wish she was here waiting for me.

I think im ready to come back to alaska. we will drive the rental car to seattle in a few hours and get on the plane. lots of packing to do,

see you guys tonight - we fly in at 730pm - then i have to work sat - tues. it is going to be a long haul

thanks guys for coming on this trip with me, i thought about each of you alot while i was riding - our total trip 2800miles.

/big hugs.

ahhhh the morning is incredibly beautiful - there isnt even any mist on our bike seats.

clint is sad - he has been hauling this little 2.5gal gas can on the back of his bike since we left anchorage. for the last 2 nights he has been hoping someone would steal it - but there it sits to greet him in the morning. HA HA HA

it is nice riding on the freeways - the road is so smooth, the corners are built for bikes. The traffic isnt too bad this morning.

we stop to fill up one last time before we hit salem. there are probably 6 UPS semi's in the parking lot and it is like old home week inside the gas station. the 2 women running the place are calling each of the guys by name and harrassing them all unmercifully.

i chuckle at some of the banter - but im feeling like an outsider - i miss the camaraderie of the yukon territores.

Oh shoot i forgot to tell you guys about Frank. We met him yesterday in williams lake. he was riding a Boulevard - beautiful bike that i have never heard of.

Frank is in his late 50's with a quick smile and a contagious laughter. his home is in Dawson Creek - just outside of Whitehorse. a few years back he went out and bought a little 900cc bike - he has never ridden a bike before in his life. He said he put about 500 mi on it and went home and told his wife he was going to trade it in on this new bike and ride to Florida. "wanna come" he asked.

she laughed and said "Frank, you have never ridden a bike before in your life. I tell you what you go to florida and if you make it - you call me. I will fly down there and ride home with you"

his nephew made the trip with him - all the stories he told made me laugh so hard. They got to florida and sure enough his wife flew down. they all had a great time on the trip home. sure wish i could tell the stories they way he does, you guys would be rolling.

Frank would have been the last person that we were able to sit and chat with until we stopped for gas today. this old man came up and started talking to us, told us of a trip him and his wife took back in the 80's. he had a grey beard down to his belly. they were going to montana or wyoming and it started thundering/lightening they pulled off on the side of the road and knocked on this farm house door. the people wouldnt even answer the door. he said - "we just wanted to hide outside behind the barn till the storm passed" then he chuckled "i dont know if i would have answered the door either, we were probably pretty scarey looking"

we arrived in salem around 9am. sun shining it is going to be a scorcher today 80+deg.

well, sure enough - sunny days make for boring stories.

this was our longest stretch ever 700mi this day. the sun was so hot for the whole trip we both got sun burned pretty bad. it is wonderful.

the countryside is wonderful, rolling green hills dotted with livestock - i even saw a llama!! oh yeah and the oreo cookie cow - black head and shoulders, black butt and hips, white creamy belly. Gotta love the oreo cookie cow complete with milk!!!

we took a wrong turn at cache creek and headed towards Kamloops. it wasnt a bad thing, it just meant that we missed riding thru hell's canyon or devils canyon i cant remember. what i do remember from previous trips is that it is incredibly gorgeous!!

the road we took was so high up 1444 meters that it looked mostly like desert but still wonderful. it dropped us down into the little town of hope. where we stopped for a little lunch.

oh the border is so close i can taste it. before we knew it - we were in washington. it only took us a little over 24 hrs longer than we thought and technically our plane leaves seattle at 7pm. clint changed the plane reservations to friday at 7pm in quesnel (see i told you i was spoiled)

when we arrived to seattle i had to pee sooooo bad. dont forget im the one that told clint "we dont have to stop at rest areas to pee, i would prefer just to pull off, no stinky outhouse to deal with - just squat do your business and your back on the road"

pfft... in seattle it takes 15min to pee!!! you have to find an exit - stop at all the lights, find a gas station, get the key, do your stuff, (and the bathrooms are just as stinky as the outhouses) return the key, get back on the road, try and find the on ramp - no seattle doesnt always put the on ramps in the same location as the off ramp. deal with traffic, lights, pedestrians. and then finally 15 min later you are back doing 75mph.

i told clint 'i want to go home, where the animals are friendly and predictable - (not like these hostile cars in rush hour traffic) and where it only takes 5min to pee."

we are so close to our destination and yet so far. I told clint i would ride until i was too cold to ride any more. that is how we ended up in lacey, Wa. only 160 mi from our destination. it was about 9pm when we pulled in. we ate first and then went to our room.

normally we kinda unpack a little, straighten up stuff, hang up our gear (mostly so it will dry by morning - hee hee it has been dry for 2 days now), but not tonight, we laughed the next morning - there sat all our stuff in a giant heap on the floor. we were so tired after 700mi it was all we could do just to take it off and die for the night.

im so excited - we are almost there.

June 19 Pink Mountain, YT to Quesnel, BC

waking up at our typical 4am (damn my internal clock) the weather outside was soft and misty and a wee bit cold - elevation 944meters. crawling on the bike wasnt as hard as i thought it would be. the morning reminded me of when i was growing up on a strawberry farm. while the rest of my school mates were sleeping in and enjoying summer, my brothers and i were up at 5am facing the same soft misty cold mornings. Hitting the field early so we could get our work done. the rows between the strawberries were mud, the bushes themselves were wet, you learned to kick them with your boots to knock most of the water off it before you picked the berries so your hands could stay a little warmer. the nice thing about those days is that the sun always came out around 10-11am and dried everything up. you would find yourself peeling the layers of clothing off as the morning wore on, and by lunch you were just in jeans and a tank top. I was hoping the yukon territory would be the same.

we got about 30m down the road and my fingers were so cold i could hardly brake.the roads werent bad this morning just a little wet so we were making good time it was just so dang cold. i pulled off and asked clint if we could change bikes. His has a huge windshield.

oh my gosh!!!! his bike is heaven!!! my body stopped shivering.... my fingers could move somewhat freely - i dont think i will ever give his bike back.

about another 30miles down the road and he stops. crawls off the bike "damn woman - you are one tough chick!! i dont see how you rode this bike all this way" he had to add some more layers and adjust some of his stuff so he could stay warm. he would go on to tell every one we talk to from here on out " i wasnt on that bike for more than 30 min before i had to pull over to get warm and she did 1800 miles in that!!!"
i have such a wonderful husband. he makes me smile so big.

We stopped at Wonowon to fill up and the guy running the place told us we just missed the hail storm. hee hee miracles DO happen!!

the ride was incredibly beautiful - up so high - we were riding even with the snow capped mountains in the distance. I was so glad clint changed bikes with me. i was able to stop shaking long enough to enjoy it. we didnt see any animals on the trip down the mountain, a few eagles and lots of hawks. that is ok though, I am thrilled that i was able to see all the bear - 11 total.

i wish i could remember what town we had just left when we saw bear #10. I was on clints bike - so it had to be on this leg of the journey. He was a huge black bear, about as big as my bike. we could see him crossing the road in the distance. so we slowed down. as we got closer, he just stopped in our lane. luckily it was on a straight stretch - i was worried about stopping in the middle of the road and being rear-ended.

we were revving our bikes and inching closer. clint started honking his horn and still the bear just looked at us. he was like a troll that wanted something so that we could cross his road. I was trying not to get too close - you know a bear can be 0-60 in 3 leaps. although that cant keep that up long - it is certainly enough to grab hold of my bike.

it felt like forever - this stand off with this bear - but either he finally figured that we were worth much - or that the noise from our bikes was deafening. he wandered off to the side of the road and we rode past. just around the corner were some tourist parked sideways on the road looking at a moose. silly tourist.... they could have looked a bear right in the eye if they had kept moving.

ahhhh it 'was' going to be like my strawberry mornings!!!! The sun!!! i feel its heat thru all my gear. our next stop for gas - we start peeling layers. What a glorious day!!!!

We decided to take the Hudson Hope loop because it was sunny, the roads were dry and it is a beautiful drive- saves you a couple hours. we were waiting to make the decision until we were closer, mostly because the road has soooo many corners and sooooo many deer.

I am glad we took it - we dropped down off that mountain into some of the most incredibly beautiful farm country!!! and yes there are a ton of deer. luckily they all just sat on the side of the road eating breakfast watching us go by. i thought wow... dinner and a movie for the deer - no wonder they like to eat here.

we stopped at a town called clinton ( hee hee gotta stop there for my husband) for breakfast - peeled off the last of our gear - repacked and we were back on the road. we left our leather on for safety reasons - we are able to go 75-80mph now. the curves are so smooth you dont even have to slow down - wow this is a great day.

prince george is a large town - we were able to find a bike shop with a universal windshield that would fit my bike. it was about 80 deg outside. we had to peel our jackets off for the rest of the ride.

i have noticed now that we are back in "civilization" that people arent as quick to strike up a conversation. no one talks to each other at the gas pumps, no one hanging out drinking coffee outside talking about their adventures. it makes me a little sad. i love meeting people - hearing their stories, hearing their plans for what is next.

i am thankful for this whole trip - with out the rain, the mud, the crappy horrible roads, or if i had a windshield ..... think of how boring my trip would be!!! all these things are great. There would be no trash bag butt, no garbage bag feet..... nothing to tell at all. I love this trip and really am not ready for it to end. even though we are still so far from our destination - i have a feeling that the adventure is over - now it will just be a trip.

we got to quesnel around 7pm - tired, a bit sunburned - starving.
ate some dinner and slept - damn - beds feel so wonderful when you are so tired.
that was the first place with internet access so i was able to start the blog. however, i was too tired to write it all.

didnt even have to set the alarm clock this morning - the thunder and lightening woke us up around 530am.

made a cuppa insta sanka - crawled into my semi dry clothes, complete with new garbage bags for my feet. trudging out to the bike i wondered "who's brainy idea was this any way?"

it was sooooo hard to crawl on the bike that morning, looking on the horizon there was nothing but black black clouds. once again i was smacking myself for not having a windshield.

on the brightside, the roads were smooth and mostly straight.

I have always been a little worried about riding in the rain, my bike hydroplanes so bad, you have to take corners so slow - no leaning your bike into the corner.

this was going to be a long long day.

about 10 min into the trip i could feel cold rain water soaking my butt, /sigh - it is going to be even longer than i imagined.

we stopped at the first lodge we came across, there were about 6 other bikers there headed N. I stripped off my rain gear, they all laughed when they saw how wet i was. then they pulled out their rain gear and started putting in on before they headed out.

i went in and bought some large heavy duty garbage bags, dug some semi dry jeans out of my bag - poked 2 holes in the bottom of the garbage bag and slid my legs thru them.

as i was tucking the top of the garbage into my jeans, the waitress wandered by and said "nice butt" - imagine this huge bubble of air trapped in the garbage bag (front and back) "yeah but check out my package" i said as i turned around. everyone laughed. it was fun

cuppa coffee later - repack and we were off.

The garbages worked like a dream!!! I was dry, so cold....they said the temp was 7-9c - not sure what that is in F - but let me tell you at 70mph it is cold - damn where is my windshield.

we saw another grizzly with 2 cubs, i dont think i have ever seen so many bears in one trip.
we saw a young brown bear hanging out with a young black bear. clints first thought was "where are your mothers?"

there were so many buffalo i lost count. a few moose (they look so small compared to ours) but for the most part, they all just sat on the edge of the road and watched us go by.

we finally got to fort nelson around 3pm - found a work store and bought some rain gear. it isnt meant for motorcyles but at this point i didnt care. i just wanted to be dry. oh did i mention i finally bought some riding boots. All this time I have been in street boots with 3 inch heels!!

there are a few women who can say they rode their bikes down the alcan, they might even be a few that can say they did it without a windshield. but I would like to find the one that can add "and i did it in 3 inch heels"

the rain just never stopped that day. we tried to push on but about 60 clicks out of town, by body was broken, my feet so cold i couldnt shift my gears any more.

we stopped at the first lodge we found. so full of life, every one gathered around the fire, talking about their day, eating dinner.
when they lady told me they were full - i almost cried. then she said there is another lodge about 15 clicks down the road. nice place you will like it.

as i was drying my gloves by the fire there were some pictures of this young man, Jeremiah, on horse - all signed by him. He rode his horse from palmer, ak to mexico!!! it only took him 2 yrs to do it. he kept in touch with this lodge and sent them pictures and post cards along the way. one of the sayings on his picture was "if your gonna be dumb - you gotta be tough"

back out into the rain - the 15 clicks felt like 1500 clicks. but there at the bottom of hill sat a tiny little store, 3 cabins off to the side. as we pulled up a man came out to greet us. rain beating down on him - "sure we got a room - take them middle cabin the door is open"

sure enough it was open. we dumped our helmets and went to pay for the room. the store was so warm and cozy, lazy dog by the fire, too tired, or too cold to get up to greet us. the mans wife popped up out of her easy chair and came right over. "welcome" the man behind the counter "take some movies - there is some microwave popcorn over there" he said as he pointed to the wall of movies. "i will be right back - gonna turn the heat up in that cabin for you guys" he was out the door before we could stop him.

what a nice couple - they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, warm, entertained and dry. once again i dont remember my head hitting the pillow.

this was the longest day yet - on the road 16 hours. only made 500 clicks. trying not to be depressed about it - listening to the rain hit the roof - i slept.

cant believe it my eyes popped open around 430am we were repacked and out the door by 530- bah, no coffee and the shop isnt open.

it is gloomy outside, but beautiful, the mist rolling off the bay against the majestic green mountains - it is going to be a great day.

a small family is packing up at the same time we are, they are headed N. that is the normal greeting on the alaska highway (better known as the "Alcan") "morning - which way you headed?" "ahhh North? nice what are the roads / weather like to the South"

such a simple greeting can lead to hours of discussion - it is really facinating all the different kinds of people you meet on the alcan.

well the small family was right - rain, mudd and you guessed it more gravel!!! the is gravel wasnt bad, there werent any real deep spots, no 25mph curves and the frost heaves werent every 3 ft, like the night before.

there was one long stretch of gravel about 10-15 mi long - or clicks as they say in the yukon.- i was shocked to see a parade of about 10 cars all in the 1930-40's range. I think they must be headed to fairbanks for a show. Made me smile the whole way.

About 10 clicks out of whitehorse I saw my first bear. It was a big blonde sow with 2 cubs. she was just sitting off the side of the road watching the traffic go by. part of me wanted to stop and take a picture, the other part of me said "are you crazy? she is bigger than your bike!!"

so we cruised on into whitehorse, I was telling clint about the bear while we were paying for gas, and the old lady behind the counter said. "was it a big blonde one". i told her it was, and she went on to tell some pretty wonderful stories about the animals she has filmed while she has lived there. it was hard to leave. she was a wonderful story teller.

it is pretty funny the people you meet, there were a couple of guys that were headed to skagway - think we met them in destruction bay. all the way to whitehorse we kept running into them at gas stations or pull outs. after a while it was like seeing old friends.

they stopped at the same gas station in whitehorse and we said our last good byes. Hope they had a good trip to skagway.

well back to the trip, it is still raining, i looked like a cooked marshmellow!! (i have pictures to prove it). 4 shirts, 3 jackets, 3 pairs of pants and 1 pair of socks that have garbage bags duct taped to them. (darn no pictures of the feet)

we made it to watson lake that night - im not sure how, i was so cold and so beat up from the road - im surprised i made it anywhere.

we really wanted to stay at Liard hot springs, but i called from watson lake and they were booked - pfft 1 lodge.

we were able to get the last room and this little bug trap just outside of town. we watched the only channel - one of my fav movies was on "happy gilmore". despite being cold, wet, and sore - i smiled and laughed and snuggled up with clint and fell into a great night sleep.

Note to self:
Put a windshield on your bike
buy better rain gear
get better boots

wow, woke up 4am and we were on the road by 5am, cold cold morning, but the sky is blue and the sun is shining. what a beautiful day.
we made it to the border in about 6 hrs. the roads were nice, it was about 70+ deg out. So far no animals, just rough frost heaved roads.

the border crossing was uneventful, the guard seemed bored and ready to go home. By the time we hit beaver creek, about 10 mi E of the border, the first rain drops hit us. The sky was dark and angry.

I was so excited about the trip, I didnt care. Clint asked if i wanted to put my rain suit on (called frogs) but i thought "nah, it is just a few sprinkles.

we could only cruise along at about 40mph because the road is so tore up, big patches of deep gravel that grab your bike and send it off the other way. Rain so hard that it is now coming down my helmet and in thru the face shield (yes I was wearing a helmet).

so we pulled off on the side of the road and put our frogs on. Better late than never.
the road wouldnt get any better till the following morning, the frost heaves are so big that every time i went over one my butt would fly up in the air and thud down on my seat, knocking all the wind out of me!! I told clint when we stopped for the night "i think i fractured my kidney"

we stopped at destruction bay, around 930pm - whew 30 min before the kitchen closed. food never tasted so good!! the soup was hot, the coffee great and the people are so friendly.
they talked to us forever about everything, then told us all about the road ahead. I love canadians. what a happy group of people.

it took about an hour in the laundry room, drying all our gear, leather takes a long time to dry. I dont even remember my head hitting the pillow, all i remember was it was soft and dry.

Happy holidays to all, may you get some two-wheeling done safely over the season (what with the days getting longer now and all). I'll continue to be jealous, watching the rain and the wind storms here . . . ah well, here's to '07!

Heading to Laughlin this weekend?
I'll be teaching Friday morning - some foundations through combinations in my original 5 part instructional style. We're first going to try to dispel a few myths to hopefully a few newbies, then travel onward to really getting into some delicious texturing - Arabic style!

Chili Bikes & Blues
(Yeah, I'm teachin at a biker event...go figure...taking the bike! Yeah!)

I posted the flyer info at www.jimboz.com/cbb

check it out!

so happy to find y'all --- hello from Vancouver!

Well you really CAN find anything on the net these days!!!

Hi all, I'm Azrakesh from up in Vancouver, Canada, and I've beeen thinking for a while about how fun it would be to have a bike gang made up entirely of belly dancing biker babes like myself, and lo and behold . . . so far i only know one other dancer in town with a bike, and now that the rainy season has begun we won't be riding together any time soon (*sigh*)

I've been riding since I got my licence in '01, have loved every minute of it. Could probobly use a bike with more power thanks to all these mountains, but I'm pretty attached to the one and only that I've got, we've been through a lot together and she's never let me down.

Dance-wise, I'm president of a little somethin' somethin' we call the Middle Eastern Dance Association, check out our web site at www.meda.bc.ca. We just brought Morocoo out last month for a workshop and show, that was good times.

Boz-man, I hear you're coming up to Vancouver Island in the spring, are you coming by plane or on 2 wheels??? Can you be seen in public riding along with someone on an '82 Kawi KZ440LTD if I promise to hot glue sequins to my fairings?? :-)

Would love to connect with any and all other BDBBs out there -- drop me a line!!

Well, it's official.
We had a few issues dealing with the hoops, but yours truly is teaching a belly dance workshop entitled "This is Arabic Dance" at Chili, Bikes & Blues in Laughlin NV.

Nov 24 - Workshop & Performance
Nov 25 - Performance

Rest of the weekend includes poker runs, chili cookoff, biker stuff shopping, casino games, blues festival. Wow!

Interested in the belly dance side of things?
Contact Zoe at 760-326-4568

Some event info at http://www.avi-casino.com/river_rally.htm

Now - if we get enough people there, I'm trying to talk them into doing an belly dance focused biker event, rather than a biker event with a belly dance workshop. :)

So decided to join the tribe, now that I'm legit :)

My husband's bike is too big (an 1100, customized by West Coast Choppers in chrome flames and the like), so I'm looking at a Shadow Aero. Any of you ladies out there have suggestions for your favorite bikes for new riders?

I can't believe there's actually a tribe called "Belly Dance Biker Babes". This is just to funny. I had a bike for a couple of years, but it seems I was always too busy to ride it (you know, dancin' and drummin' too much). So, my husband sold both of our bikes and bought one that I could ride like a queen on, a Goldwing 1800. Yeah, I know, an old folks bike. That's what I thought too, until I rode on it. Wow! We're talkin' 6 cd changer, cruise control, cb radio, pretty much everything except air conditioning (which would really be nice in the Texas heat). The main thing I like is the intercom system. I can just tell my husband when I think he's doing something wrong instead of slapping him. Just kidding of course. Then again, maybe not.

Hey Jim, I saw you at Yaa Halla. You were awsome! I thought about going up and introducing myself, but there was always someone else in deep conversation with you. Maybe next time.

Poof !!!!!!!!!!!!! It is I the Genie from Miami,

I’m here voicing my miserable existence. Daytona bike week is this week and the big bike race is on Saturday and I will not be able to go this year. I know that most of the people who are on this tribe live out west so you’ll probably not make it to Daytona. For me Daytona is in my back yard, Ok it a four hour drive doing the speed limit, but it’s the journey that is important, so it is said. Im even more frustrated because I have about six or seven bikes, I have to count the pieces, and not one is running right now, nor have they been running for some time. I need my fix. I’ll ride a scooter at this point. Any one got one to lend me?

Take care,
Bill the busted ass, six broken motorcycle Genie, from Miami

This last Friday a huge storm was expected in San Diego. We had planned our trip to Bisbee AZ months in advance. Steve is not one to back down, so we left Friday noon for Bisbee. Lo and behold, the storm caught is in the mountains----snow, hail. We had no way but to keep going, as there were no turnarounds after we got caught.
From my back-seat perch, I saw a car fly off the road, and all I could do was crouch my head against Steve and pray to St. Michael to keep us safe. Thank God we got to Imperial Valley where it was cold but dry.
Saturday morning we left for Bisbee, again. We ended up getting caught in another storm and had to spend the night in beautiful Gila Bend......nothing there! We paid $28 for a room----the "Space Age" hotel wanted $89 for the night. All we needed was a clean bed---which we got!
Sunday morning at 8:30 we finally set out for our destination. We made a quick stop in Tucson and finally made it to Bisbee around 12:00 noon. Bisbee is beautiful! A small copper mining town with lots of cute little shops---antiques, gifts, new age, food! Lots of bikes come to this place....Tombstone is 20 minutes north of here---another cool "biker" spot. But, alas, this is the LAST time I will ride-along in inclement wheather....too scary. I know Steve will probably go no matter what----testosterone fueled!

Live 105 DJ's encouraged listeners to "door" lanesplitters.

Live 105 DJ's encouraged listeners to "door" lanesplitters.

Check out the thread on the Bay Area Riders Forum for full details, contact information to express your outrage, etc. In brief, this morning, the DJ's on the live 105 morning show said " how they thought it was unfair that motorcycles were able to split lanes, and that we should be stuck sitting in traffic with the rest of the cars. He went on to say it was his pet peeve and would love to see open their car door while a bike was splitting. His two morning show ******* just sat there and agreed how great that would be."

From BARF poster HOAX: "I was listening this morning to 105.3 around 6:30am on the drive to work and got to listen to how it wasn't fair that motorcycles can lane split and how the dj wants to see someone open a door in front of a lane spliter because he wants to see them "crash hard". He downplayed what he said when a pissed off listener called but a couple calls later someone called argeeing with him and he was back to saying he wants to see motorcyclists crash. Ironically the first comercial after his little anti-motorcycle rant was for a Yamaha dealer."

Here is the link to the BARF thread: www.bayarearidersforum.com/foru...d.php

FYI - The Yamaha dealer whose commercial was aired after the DJ's BS has phoned the station and has spoken with management. Management said an on-air apology will be broadcast tomorrow morning.

An apology is not enough!

Several publications and news outlets int he bay area, as well as the FCC and CHP and other bay area police outlets AND the AMA have been informed as well. This subject is spreading like wildfire throughout many of the Motorcycle Rider messageboards.

Take a minute to email/call/write to Live 105 and let them know what you think.

I can't believe that this exists!! How fabulous! So, I'm more into dirtbiking as far as sport, but love a bike for what it is and love the street as well. Been bellydancing for 12 years. Don't expect to quit doing either anytime soon!

This is Ivan de Prume, the original drummer from White Zombie. I wanted to form a unique band that incorporated Middle Eastern melodies and percussion yet still had fat guitars and drums. The band is called Healer and we just finished our first album called "Awakening". Please check it out and if you like it, spread the word. We are still unsigned and building our fanbase.

Please join our tribes:
http://www.myspace.com/healer
www.healerband.com

We are searching for a Belly Dancing Tribe to incorporate with the show...
Our Next Show is 05/27/2005 08:30 PM @ THE GIG -
7302 MELROSE AVE., HOLLYWOOD, CA 90046

Thanks to everyone who joined the Belly Dance Biker Babes inaugural run. We rode to Lake Henshaw via Wildcat Canyon and an interestingly circuitous path led by our own Randwulf.

Kudos to Randwulf for the excellent lead, backroad knowledge, and excellent pace...except for slowing down to smack that cyclist!

In true dancer fashion, we got to talk poop about other dancers in town. Okay, so that was me. BUT -- Want to hear what I was saying? Join us for the NEXT Belly Dance Biker Babes Run!
